Now that we have turn-by-turn navigation I want to use RoadSync for navigation as well. Quick question: I don’t seem to be able to do a voice search. Not on my mobile, not via my headset. I can search by keyboard. I tried pressing the big microphone 🎙 on the screen, but that doesn’t do anything either. What am I missing here?

Without knowing your circumstances that is a difficult question to answer. This is gonna sound stupid but presumably you have a microphone connected to your headset.

Ok, had to ask first, sorry. I have been an engineer in a factory and you would be amazed how many people say they have tried the obvious and then when you try it it works
I will think about it and try a few things. I do have a mic somewhere so I will have a go.

I wish, ha! No, mine is a €5 Aliexpress headset. But I can make phone calls with it, so the mic works.

But I tried without the headset and just using the phone and also voice search doesn’t work. I need to do something for the recording to start, but I don’t know what. Pushing the 🎤 on the screen is not it.

Toontje, you have probably tried this but this is what I did.

Go to Call, Voice search, right arrow to "Say contact name after the beep", wait for beep, it will come up with Listening... say name of a contact, then it will repeat the name etc...

 

I am talking about Navigation. not calling. The day i want to call someone while riding my bike..... i'll take the car. 😁

 

If I understand you go back 2 posts of mine, it did answer. I asked it to find a person and it answered by saying searching for that person. It found the person then asked what I wanted to do next, so I called them and it connected to them. Sorry if I am getting confused, I have Aspergers. Is that what you wanted to know?

 

So I am trying to do a voice search for a destination I want to go to using RoadSync Navigation. Therefor I do a voice search using either my phone or, if connected, my Bluetooth headset. The issue I am having is that I have no indication that RoadSync is actually recording my voice. I don’t know if I do something wrong, if I need to tap or click something to make it record. While I am speaking, there is no response whatsoever from the app.
I can search by typing the destination.

No, just speak after the beep
I presume you do that and nothing happens

Well, I guess it doesn’t work for me. Need to investigate further. I was just curious to what I am doing wrong. For navigation itself I normally use my Beeline.

 

For me Roadsync is easier to understand than beeline, but each to his own

Howabout looking at your settings on Roadsync again

Did you allow the correct permissions when installing the app
It wont work properly without them
I am sure you are aware but thought I would ask anyway

 

I told you I was missing something. Turns out that you have to have the volume turned up to hear the “Voice Search” prompt and the beep. Then it records.
All good, but I have to switch the phone to Spanish for Voice Search to recognise the Spanish names. Spanish names don’t go well together with English phone settings.
All working now. All good.

 

Perhaps you need to speak Spanish whilst in España 😊

I know now how to make it work. What i don't know is why it didn't work before. Just a matter of timing? Because i didn't hear the prompt i never actually recorded anything? Looks like it.
