I'm at 7000 miles & still on my factory windscreen. I'm at about 90% street use and over 50% of that at high speed so feeling a touring windscreen might help keep some wind off me. For me, the factory one is a little loud (wind noise even though I wear earplugs) and doesn't protect much against wind buffeting on my upper helmet or upper arms & shoulders. I had very good results with a Puig aftermarket on my Kawasaki Versus, so leaning towards that, but it's not cheap so hesitated to buy until some reviews are in. At 6 foot tall I don't mind if another screen is somewhat taller, but for sure i want to look over it and not through it in a normal riding position. Does anyone have experienced comments on Puig, Givi, Honda or other touring windscreens specific to the TA? Thank you.
I'm still playing with my setup but here's what I've tried:
Factory standard
Factory with Puig clip on extension
Puig
Puig with Puig extension
Givi tall
Givi tall with Puig extension
Givi tall with puig extension, adjustable windscreen lift brackets, and fairing deflectors

I'm 6'4" and have a long torso. Tall enough that I can see over the top of the tall Givi with the bracket extensions. The Puig deflector is line of site but it can be rotated flat to have an open view. There's no buffeting with the current setup. I do still have some airflow coming up through the bar area and will be building my own front fairing extensions.

i bought the PUIG, i am also 6ft tall but long in torso, found it was still a little short so had it with an extension piece and it worked well but not enough for the trade off of clear vision, sometimes was looking through the windscreen particularly when raining. if you are shorter in torso than me then you may be able to use the PUIG screen without an extension and get good protection, if you don;t need an extension piece then the height is perfect. My PUIG screen is unmarked and available if you want to PM me with an offer and save money??

Hi,
interesting to say the least,
i am 6'3" tall torso and cant decide what to try
thinking brackets 1st as a bit of air can then get through at lower level and an extender, then tall screen last
Heavy made a good point about the brackets and air flow
cheers from Northumberland

On my old V-Strom, I ended up with a GIVI screen that I had put 3/8" spacers, just at the bottom mounts, to get the airflow to my liking.

I've tried my spacer mod on my TA. It has improved things a little. I cut plastic tube to about 1/4". Fuel line fit inside to take up some of the extra I.D. and keeps the spacers centred on the bolts.

Hi all,
well after a few hundred miles on a Puig touring screen, (Jonti kindly let me have at a fair price) i can say the buffeting has gone and i am left with wind noise only,
before to use my intercom i had to nearly lie down on the tank, now i only have to dip my head 6 inches,
i think to ride in still air i just need to try the deflector, just not sure on the looks, makes me wonder if the tall Givi screen would do the trick without a deflector,
this Puig one has lifted the height around 11 cm the tall Givi would be 21 taller ? ugly being too high ?
really happy the buffeting has gone with the Puig so i wont gamble on the Givi in case the air flow is not as good,
deflector or no deflector thats the only call now,
i am 6'3" 190 cm long in body 86kg , 32" inside legs if it helps .
cheers

For a long time, I was happy with the stock screen on an adjustable mount, sitting on the low seat. I recently had my seat modified so I have more room fore and aft to move. I'm now finding I'm getting some wind thrumming when I sit further back on the seat. Lots of hand waving, to feel wind flow while riding on the highway, later and I'm pretty sure most of the disturbance is from air at the sides of my windshield. I hate big windscreens and hate the prices even more so I went shopping on Aliexpress to see what I could find.

This screen seemed a little larger than the stocker and was only CDN$42.00, with free shipping, when I bought it. Pretty cheap experiment.

Of course, it took a few weeks to arrive. The mounting holes seem to be off by a little, which is exaggerated by the adjustable windscreen brackets. Some struggling and swearing and I got it mounted. It is considerably taller than the stock screen but also wider, which is mainly what I was after.

Image

First ride and airflow was great but I was looking through the screen, even at the lowest adjustment on the brackets. Unacceptable for me. I knew I needed to cut the screen down. A 3" spacer to guide my pen and some painter's tape and I had an outline.

Image

With some tape on the shoe of my jigsaw and a fine tooth blade, I was ready. Remember, only $42 so, no guts no glory.

Image

Next was the belt sander with a 120 grit belt to smooth out my cut and refine the corners.

Image

Followed up with a drywall sander fitted with 220 grit paper to take off any flash and smooth out the surface. The flat pad was beneficial to smooth things but also ensure I didn't wrap the sand paper around the edge of the screen and scratch it.

Image

More cursing and swearing to get it mounted and now I just need to try it out. Looks promising though as I'm about the same height as the stock screen with more width. 🤞

Me too. I'm disappointed ... the weather has improved, temps have dropped a bunch, but I've made the mistake of offering to be plumber's assistant to a buddy so I've been stuck crawling around dark, dank spaces, with lots of spider webs and mosquitoes.

This was the "nice" basement I was working in yesterday.

Got out to try my new windshield today. It's a long weekend here so I was on the road early to try and avoid the citiots (idiots from the city, to us living in cottage country). It was 12ºC (54ºF) this morning, which was a refreshing change from the 30's (90's) we've been experiencing. Even had my heated grips on to start out.

Most roads in the area are 2-lane, 80 kph (50 mph) and I set the Veridian at 93 kph (58 mph) by my GPS. Winds were calm and the screen was set at the bottom of the adjustable brackets. Windflow and helmet noise were awesome. For part of the trip, I hit the main highway and cruised 110-120 kph (68-75 mph). On the highway, the noise increased with my speed. I could feel that the air was tumbling in on the rear of my helmet. I think moving the shield up 1/2" to 1" in the brackets will solve that. Overall, for under CDN$45? Very pleased. I think the extra width made the most difference for me.

I tried to get the camera at eye level for this picture. I'm 5'10", with a 30" inseam and a lowered seat, for reference.

Roads were pretty quiet and only obstacles were 2 deer (doe & fawn), 1 moose and 2 cops.

Hey Russ. I am 5'11, do you think I will have to see ahead through the screen or over the screen? I was considering the WRS Touring version since it's a little shorter than caponard and I am sure that I would be able to see over the screen. What do you think? TIA

Hi all,

just an update on my screen experiences
original = bad buffering on chest and head
Puig touring screen = buffering only on head
Puig touring screen and Puig adjustable visor set half way up, no buffering anywhere just slight wind on arms, can now use my intercom without ducking down,
slight drawback my eyes are only just over the visor so to look down it is through the screen,
out of curiosity I am 6'3", 32" inside leg, so long in upper body and 86kg

your other alternative is take the screen off and use it as a naked the wind is then equal all over

I am now really pleased thanks and a shout out to jonti who sold me the screen

cheers all

I too have the Caponord. Street me wants another 3 cm, dirt me wants the stocker.

I'm 182 cm/6'0"

In no way do I regret the purchase, it's just that I'm apparently a bit long in the torso for my height.
Adding a set of adjustable windshield brackets could give you a little variability. You can find them for around $10 on aliexpress ... pretty cheap experiment.

(Look at you ... from the US and using metric. 😁)
