I thought it would be good to start a discussion about user mode settings and what everyone is running for their particular conditions. Let's dive deep into the settings, explain what each can do, and share real world riding experiences that we can all learn from. Disclaimer: I am a total beginner with motorcycle rider aids and how to use the joystick buttons. At this point I have more questions than answers. Yesterday, I found a setting that works good for me on and off road. Yes, it is a pain to have to re set TC and ABS each time you turn off the key, but with some practice it becomes only a 5 second delay when taking off from a stop. The aftermarket has a cure for this, but I'm just going to deal with it as is. Here we go...

This is my display when I turn on the key and scroll to user mode:

The engine sounds different with TC turned off. You can feel a boost in the power, like the all the restrictions have been removed. We were riding 50/50 asphalt and improved hard packed clay roads with just a bit of moisture to tack up the dirt. I experimented with the ABS setting, and just left it in off road mode all the time. I'm getting ready to install a new D908RR rear tire, and plan to do some break slide testing with the ABS turned off to the rear wheel in the near future. The "P" setting adjusts only the throttle response, and how the power is delivered, not actual horse power. If you are having issues with a "jerky" throttle, lower this setting. If I was attempting a rocky climb on a mountain trail, I would use the lowest (1) setting. For hauling butt on smooth asphalt, the (4) setting is a hoot.

Question - I could not figure out how to quickly switch from the dirt user mode setting to "Standard" when going from dirt to street. I had to turn the key off/on to get back to a street setting. Can anyone help me with this?
